He holds an M.Sc. in Hydrology and a Ph.D. in Water Resources from Stanford University, USA. He was a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo from 1980 to December 2018. He served as Director of the National Water Agency (ANA) from its inception in 2000 until 2009; Secretary of Sanitation and Water Resources for the State of S\u00e3o Paulo from 2015 to 2018; and CEO of Companhia de Abastecimento de \u00c1gua e Saneamento do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo (SABESP) from 2019 to 2023. He was President of the World Water Forum held in France (2012), co-chaired the International Organizing Committee of the Forum in Korea (2015) and Brazil (2018). Prof. Braga is Honorary President of the World Water Council (WWC) and President of the Latin American Water Council (LAWC).
