Pedro Maranhão
Director President
ABREMA - Associação Brasileira de Resíduos e Meio Ambiente
Pedro Maranhão is an economist, entrepreneur, and infrastructure project manager. In the private sector, he has worked in sanitation, energy, agribusiness, and reforestation, always serving as a manager and business developer. In the public sector, he has held high-level positions such as Acting Minister, Alternate Senator, Executive Secretary, and State Secretary of the Civil House, among others. His most recent public position was as the National Secretary for Sanitation, where he played an active role in the approval and regulation of Brazil’s New Sanitation Legal Framework. He is currently the CEO of the Brazilian Association of Waste and Environment (ABREMA), an organization that aims to sustainably drive the development of the waste sector in Brazil.

Bernardo Ornelas

Companhia Municipal de Limpeza Urbana – Comlurb | Rio de Janeiro
Environmental Engineer and Ph.D. in Sanitation, with over a decade of experience in developing sustainable management and circular economy projects for municipal solid waste. His work focuses on the implementation of low-carbon technologies for the biological treatment of organic waste, including biogas energy recovery and compost production for agriculture.

Wilhelm Winkelmann
Head of Waste Management Department
Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR)
He is Head of the Department for (Facility) Waste Management of the Berliner Stadtreinigungsbetriebe (BSR), Berlin’s municipal owned waste management company, and since 2013 Senior Manager of BSR’s biogas plant.

Anja Schwetje
Senior Scientific Officer

Since 2014 Anja is responsible for topics on waste with a nexus to climate protection and methane emission reduction. She is the one of the Co-Leads of the Waste Hub of the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC), Vice-Chair of the Working Group on Climate Change and Waste Management of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), advisory board member of German RETech Partnership, Co-Chair of the Working Group on Organic Waste of the PREVENT Waste Alliance, and active in the Global Methane Initiative (GMI).

Verena Böhme

Verena Böhme is specialized in communication and has a postgraduate in the management of NGOs. She has been working in international advertising agencies for more than 13 years responsible for development of integrated communication campaigns for international brands.

Rafaela Craizer

Ms. Rafaela Craizer is an environmental engineer with degrees from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro and Macquarie University, Sydney. In 2021 she founded ReverseLab.

Nicole Küsegi

Nicole Kösegi has over 25 years of experience in the waste management industry, with a particular focus on textiles and packaging. She has held various strategic management positions in the recycling sector, including Director of Producer Responsibility at SITA NEWS and Managing Director of the dual system BellandVision.

He has actively been part of ISWA and is a former Vice President and President of the Association. He is Honorary Member and Member of the LAC Regional Chapter.
