The Importance of Sanitation Professional Entities for the Universalization of Service Provision

Who is the event for?

Panel aimed at various stakeholders involved in the development and improvement of basic sanitation in Brazil and Latin America, such as Sanitation Sector Professionals, Managers and Political Decision-Makers, Representatives of Professional Associations and Trade Organizations, Academics and Researchers, Investors and Financiers, Consultants and Technology Companies, and Representatives of Organized Civil Society.

Eng. Nivaldo Rodrigues

President

ABES-SP

Civil Engineer, graduated from the School of Engineering at Mackenzie University, with a specialization in Basic Sanitation Engineering from the School of Public Health at the University of São Paulo. He has over 32 years of experience at Sabesp, with a career focused on operational efficiency, particularly in water supply and loss control. For seven years, he served as Superintendent of the Wastewater Treatment Business Unit at Sabesp, overseeing the operation of treatment plants in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. He also held the position of Superintendent of Operational Development, leading major programs such as Water Loss Reduction, Water and Wastewater Quality Control, Automation, Energy Efficiency, and Energy Generation. He currently serves as the Regional Director for the South Region, responsible for the operation and maintenance of sanitation services in 10 municipalities and across the southern area of the São Paulo metropolitan region, serving a population of approximately 4.8 million people. He is also the President of ABES – Brazilian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering – São Paulo Section.

Engº Agostinho Geraldes

President

Associação dos Engenheiros da Sabesp- AESABESP

Civil Engineer with a postgraduate degree in Sanitation Engineering from the School of Public Health of the State of São Paulo. He is Strategic Maintenance Director at Sabesp and currently serves as President of the Associação dos Engenheiros da Sabesp – AESabesp.

Engª Débora Longo

President / Executive Director

IPEG / SABESP

Civil Engineer, graduated in 2003 from UNIP. She holds an MBA in Socio-Environmental Strategic Management from FGV and an MBA in PPPs and Concessions from the Fundação Escola de Sociologia e Política de São Paulo (FESPSP), with an international module at the London School of Economics (LSE). Working at Sabesp since 1995, she has held several roles including data processing technician, technical planning manager in the West Unit, division manager for major consumers (West), department manager at UGR Butantã, Superintendent of the North Operational Unit, Superintendent of the West Operational Unit, and Executive Assistant to the People and Management Directorate. She currently serves as Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance and as President of IPEG. Her management is guided by strategic pillars such as operational efficiency, customer focus, and ESG principles.

Eng. Reynaldo E. Young Ribeiro (Moderator)

Technical Director

Associação dos Engenheiros da Sabesp – AESabesp

Former President of AESabesp and currently Technical Director at the Associação dos Engenheiros da Sabesp. He began his career at Sabesp in 1981 and spent over 20 years in operational areas. He holds a master’s degree in Urban Engineering from UFSCar and served as Regional Superintendent for the Baixada Santista region and in Sabesp’s Operational Development Superintendency. He also holds training as a Board Member from IBGC and advanced certification in GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) from KPMG Brazil.
